Ultrasound ablation,Noninvasive medical representative,Creating happy family
At the 25th International Symposium on Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU) held in Trondheim, Norway, Professor David Cranston, Clinical Director of the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) Centre at the University of Oxford’s Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, received the first ISTU Clinical Award.
Recognized as a leading award in the field of therapeutic ultrasound, the honor highlights Professor Cranston’s outstanding contributions to the clinical advancement of HIFU. In his award lecture, he shared more than 20 years of collaboration with Haifu Technology, describing it as a journey of how China’s original medical innovation entered and contributed to global leading healthcare institutions.

In 2002, the University of Oxford introduced its first Haifu® Focused Ultrasound Tumor Therapeutic System, becoming one of the first top European medical centers to adopt Chinese-developed HIFU technology. The system was successfully applied in challenging cancer cases, demonstrating the clinical potential of non-invasive ultrasound ablation.
Driven by strong clinical results and long-term collaboration, Oxford introduced its second Haifu Knife® system in 2011 and established extensive clinical research programs covering liver cancer, kidney cancer, pancreatic cancer, uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, and other diseases.
In 2025, Oxford University introduced its third Haifu® system, further expanding research into non-invasive treatment. With improved imaging quality and enhanced energy capabilities, the new system supports broader applications, including research in breast tumors and future exploration of drug delivery and immune activation.

Today, focused ultrasound has become one of the most promising medical technologies of the 21st century, with more than one million patients treated worldwide and over 180 indications under research.
From Chongqing to Oxford, Haifu Technology continues to advance its mission:
“Treating patients while causing less harm.”
Through global collaboration and continuous innovation, Haifu Technology is bringing safer, non-invasive treatment solutions to patients around the world.
