On February 25-28, 2020, a four-day Training Workshop took place in the National Medical Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology named after V.I. Kulakov of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (https://www.ncagp.ru/). Themed on AESTHETIC GYNECOLOGY, the Workshop aimed to provide pragmatic training courses to improve gynecologists’ professional skills and competency. Around 90 gynecologists attended this workshop coming from major cities across Russia.

On the afternoon of February 27 2020, Dr. Apolikhina I.A., Head of Russia’s first Department of Aesthetic Gynecology and Rehabilitation (https://www.ncagp.ru/index.php?t8=23&prpotdel=119) delivered a speech on “An innovative technique for treating diseases of the vulva and cervix based on high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU)”, giving a brief introduction to HIFU technology and its application in treating vulva and cervical diseases in their center.

After Dr. Apolikhina I.A.’s talk, the audience were shown a live HIFU surgery for non-neoplastic epithelial disorders of the vulva (NNEDV) performed by Dr. Teterina T.A. with Haifu Medical’s Model-CZF Ultrasound Therapeutic Device for Gynaecology on the same afternoon of February 27 (13:40-14:00), 2020.

Kulakov National Medical Research Center of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology is the largest and leading scientific, medical and academic institution of Russia dedicated to women and children’s care. It is also an implementation base of a national programme of safeguarding women’s, mothers’ and children’s health and a renowned teaching and training hospital in gynecology in Russia. It was the first hospital that implemented RF technology for treating pelvic floor dysfunction in women, and introduced the latest minimally invasive and non-invasive laser technologies to solve the most complex and intimate medical problems in women’ health.
