China-innovated non-invasively surgical technology in Argentina treats 200 patients

According to Chongqing Haifu Medical Technology Co., Ltd, a Chinese enterprise, they have used their innovative noninvasive high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation technology to treat 200 patients in Argentina, bringing great benefits to the local community.

In 2017, the Focused Ultrasound Tumor Therapeutic System, developed by Chongqing Haifu Medical, arrived at the Public Oncology Hospital of José C. Paz. The HIFU Noninvasive Treatment Center, established in this hospital, makes Argentina the first country in Latin America to use HIFU ablation for noninvasive treatment of both malignant and benign tumors, including uterine fibroids, liver cancer, and pancreatic cancer.

Haifu Medical said that Mario Ishii, mayor of José C. Paz, promised at the opening ceremony of Haifu Center that the Public Oncology Hospital of José C. Paz would provide HIFU treatment to the local community, and even the entirety of Latin America, free of charge.

The mother of the first "Haifu Baby" in Latin America, who had lost nearly all the hope of having a baby because of uterine fibroids, gave birth to a healthy baby boy after HIFU ablation treatment. The mother spoke of how she had tried to conceive for a long time but failed due to her condition and the dream of becoming a mother seemed so far out of reach. Thanks to this technology, her health and happiness were returned to, and her happiness has since doubled with the arrival of her baby.

Another patient who underwent HIFU ablation commented how it was significantly more preferable to invasive procedures because it is free of the risk of rendering the patient infertile through invasive surgical intervention. With a desire to have a family someday, she took a chance with the treatment although unfamiliar with this therapeutic technology.

Haifu Focused Ultrasound Tumor Therapeutic System treats benign or malignant tumor lesions by focusing ultrasound beams at a point inside the body. The temperature of the target lesion thus rises instantly and kills the target tumor without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue. As such, it protects the integrity of organs, provides a faster and more precise treatment, and can be completed in a day. At present, HIFU is being used in different countries around the world including in the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Spain, Italy, Cuba, Japan, and South Korea, among others.

The Haifu Focused Ultrasound Tumor Therapeutic System housed in the Public Oncology Hospital of José C. Paz is connected to the Haifu Tele-medicine Service Center in China. If doctors at the José C. Paz Haifu Center encounter any problems, they can access remote clinical support and guidance from the Chongqing Haifu Medical center in China. Since its opening, the Haifu Center has become a center of excellence that will provide HIFU treatment and training in Latin America.
